Hush Hush; Hush Hush

"Hush Hush" is a song performed by the Pussycat Dolls, included on the first edition of their second studio album Doll Domination (2008). Written by Quiz & Larossi, Andreas Romdhane, Josef Larossi, Ina Wroldsen, Nicole Scherzinger, the song was originally a slow ballad, but was remade into an uptempo, disco-inspired dance song sampling parts of Gloria Gaynor's 1978 hit "I Will Survive", and retitled "Hush Hush; Hush Hush". The new dance version was later released as a the sixth and final single from the reworked version of the Doll's second album, Doll Domination 2.0. Lead and background vocals for both versions of the song are performed solely by lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.

In 2009 Ron Fair and Dave Aude produced a remix of the song now titled "Hush Hush; Hush Hush" for Scherzinger to perform on the World Domination Tour. The new version features additional vocals sampled from Gloria Gaynor's world wide smash hit "I Will Survive". Radio stations informally refer to the song as the "Up-tempo Remix" or "Hush Hush (I Will Survive)" and sometimes incorrectly just as "Hush Hush". It is now an up-tempo disco dance song with a faster beat and has a different instrument set to the original ballad version.

It was released as the sixth single from Doll Domination on May 12, 2009 worldwide through digital download outlets and later on July 13, 2009. The song has had limited success managing to reach just top 15 in Ireland and Australia, top 20 in the UK, number 41 in Canada and just 73 in the United States. The single was not promoted due to the group being on tour at its time of release. See release history to see which versions of album the remix appears on.

"Hush Hush; Hush Hush" was sent to mainstream radio as the final release from Doll Domination. The "Hush Hush" (the ballad version) serves as the b-side and was released to some radio stations in the US on May 12, 2009 as well as digital download outlets.

Amazon revealed the single promotional cover-art on 20 April 2009, which listed the single as "Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger". The emphasis on Nicole Scherzinger as the featured artist caused controversy, as "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" also emphasized her as a featured singer. It sparked rumors that Nicole Scherzinger was leaving the group to continue her solo career, despite well below average sales for the singles from her 2007 shelved solo album release "Her Name Is Nicole". This also led to internal strife within the group as the other members were unhappy with the overemphasis on Scherzinger.
The tension surfaced onstage while the group opened for Britney Spears on their tour in Glendale, Arizona. Melody Thornton, on the verge of tears, addressed the crowd saying, "Thank you guys for supporting me, even though I'm not featured" and encouraging the audience to follow their dreams and to "never let anyone stomp on them, ever". After her outburst, she was high-fived by Jessica Sutta, indicating more of the Dolls were upset by the tagging and the over-emphasis on Scherzinger.

The Dolls in the disco inspired routine showcased in the music video for "Hush Hush."

The music video for the up-tempo version was filmed over two days on May 5 and 6 with director Rich Lee (Fergie's "Clumsy"). It featured cameo appearances by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and former VIP Pussycat Doll Carmen Electra, who used to sing lead vocals with the Dolls during their burlesque performances. The video was made available for fans in North America to view on the Dolls official youtube channel Doll Domination TV on May 27, 2009 and premiered a week later in the UK on 4 Music. The video was added to the Itunes Store on June 4, 2009 and reached a peak of #3 on the Top Music Videos chart..
